GULFPORT, FL - POST #995
Police exploring is for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 19 who are interested in a career in the field of law enforcement.
Gulfport Police Explorers Post #995 is currently seeking interested applicants.  Explorers participate in weekly meetings for training in topics such as traffic stops, traffic crash investigations, DUI investigations, crime scene investigations, defensive tactics, and crisis intervention.  Explorers serve at local events, providing crowd control and other services.  Explorers provide community service in a wide array of specialties including the Police Records and Communications Divisions.  After a certain level of training and experience is attained, Explorers will be permitted to ride-along with experienced patrol officers on a regular basis.

In addition to service within the Police Department Explorers are active in the community.  Explorers assist in community service projects such as the Community Safety Fair (pictured above) and the Clam Bayou Clean-up (pictured right).  Explorers provide tutoring for students at the Gulfport Rec. Center every Tuesday.  Explorers take on other community service projects as they become available (for example National Night Out, City of Gulfport events, and Boca Ciega High School events).

Explorers participate in quarterly statewide meetings that may be held anywhere in Florida.  These meetings are coordinated by the Florida Association of Police Explorers (FAPE).  The next meeting will be held in Lake Mary.
